At the end of last year, the first Latvia's Geospatial Information Technology Conference was hosted, and almost 300 industry professionals and other intereted parties gathered. Until this past year, this large of an industry related conference had not happened, and the organizers recieved extremly positve feedback. Participants were able to not only learn about the actual industry from presentations and speakers, but also meet with other collegues and related professionals in a non-workplace environment to share valuable insight and information.
The Latvia's Geospatial Information Technology Conference took place on December 8th, 2017, at the University of Latvia's Environmental Sciences center. Over the course of the conference, in two sessions, 23 Latvian and non-latvian speakers presented. This was also the first conference that covered more broad topics and outlined general trends of the industry- questions on geospatial data accessibility and use, international and inter-industry projects, teaching/learning oppurtunities for professionals and others interested, and industry development. The next Geospatial Information Technology Conference will happen again December 7th, 2018. This year we expect to have even more foreign guests, expanding our insight about Europe's and world industry trends. Along with that, one of the two sessions to choose from will be dedicated to specific technology solutions and practical uses.
